PERSONALISED TREATMENT
Time and expertise allows for a treatment plan that’s fully tailored to your individual symptoms, medical history, and preferences.
No GP referral is needed to book a private consultation.

TRANSPARENT PRICING
Menopause consultation fees
We believe in clear, upfront pricing with no hidden costs. All consultation fees include a detailed GP letter with your treatment recommendations.
PRESCRIPTION FEES
NHS Prescriptions: reducing your ongoing costs
After your consultation, Dr Radley can write to your GP to request that they take over your prescribing – meaning you get specialist expertise where it matters most, without paying private fees for every prescription.
Most patients only need one or two private consultations. After your initial appointment, Dr Radley sends you a detailed letter covering your assessment, diagnosis, and treatment plan – including any prescriptions – with a copy to your GP. Where your GP is able to take this on, they can then prescribe your ongoing HRT at NHS cost. A pre-payment certificate is available, covering unlimited HRT prescriptions for £19.80 per year.
Please note: your GP is not obligated to take over prescribing, and eligibility depends on local NHS guidelines and the treatment involved.
AFTER YOUR CONSULTATION
What happens after your consultation
Your consultation is just the beginning. Dr Radley ensures that you have clear next steps from day one, and that your GP has everything they need to support your ongoing care.
Working with your GP & the NHS
After every consultation, Dr Radley sends you a detailed letter with your diagnosis, treatment plan, and any medications prescribed, with a copy going to your GP. Where your GP is happy to take this on, this letter is what allows them to continue your care on the NHS – reducing your ongoing costs.
Sent after every appointment (including follow-ups and second opinion consultations).
Includes diagnosis, treatment plan and any medications prescribed.
Blood test results and monitoring plans are shared with you and your GP.
A copy is sent to your GP, so they have full visibility of your care.
You remain registered with your NHS GP throughout. Private care is complementary to, not replacement for, NHS care.
Prescriptions & Medication
Dr Radley can issue private prescriptions at your consultation should you wish to start treatment immediately, or facilitate transferring your prescriptions to your NHS GP.
Private prescriptions can be issued on the day of your consultation and medications can be obtained through our private pharmacy.
Many women choose a private prescription initially, before transferring prescriptions to their NHS GP.
There are some medications or scenarios where a GP may not be able to take over prescribing – read more about these here.
NHS prescriptions cost £9.90 per item, or £19.80 per year for unlimited eligible HRT items with an HRT Prepayment Certificate.
Additional private prescriptions can be provided between consultations at a cost of £35. This is in addition to the cost of medication itself, which can vary.
Cancellation & Rescheduling
We understand plans change. Appointments can be rescheduled or cancelled free of charge with at least 48 hours' notice.
Cancellations made within 48 hours of the appointment may be subject to a late cancellation fee of £150. Non-attendance without notice will be charged at the full consultation fee.

No. You can self-refer and book directly – no GP referral is needed. After your consultation, Dr Radley will send a detailed letter to your GP (with your consent) with all treatment recommendations, so your care stays joined up.
Initial consultations with Dr Radley are £295, and follow-up appointments are £220.

Your initial consultation includes a full clinical assessment, discussion of your symptoms and medical history, and a personalised treatment plan. Follow-up appointments allow Dr Radley to monitor your progress, adjust treatment as needed, and address any concerns as your symptoms evolve.

These are self-pay fees; Dr Radley does not work with health insurers. However, many patients find private menopause care more affordable than expected since prescribing can often be transferred to your NHS GP. This means you benefit from specialist expertise without ongoing private prescription costs. You can find out more about this process here.
Your consultation with Dr Radley lasts 45 minutes and covers everything you need to make informed decisions about your care.

You'll start with a full symptom review – discussing not just the obvious signs like hot flushes, but also symptoms you might not have connected to menopause, such as joint pain, brain fog, or anxiety. Dr Radley will then take a complete medical history, including your family history, current medications, and any previous treatments, to identify the safest and most effective options for you.

She'll explain your treatment choices in clear, straightforward language – drawing on the latest evidence and guidelines from the British Menopause Society and NICE – so you can make informed decisions about your care. You'll leave with a personalised treatment plan tailored to your individual needs, which could include HRT, testosterone therapy, lifestyle recommendations, or a combination.

There's no rush. You'll have time to ask anything you need to, whether that's about side effects, how long treatment takes to work, or what happens next. No question is too small.
Yes. Dr Radley offers virtual consultations across the UK via secure video link.

Online appointments work in exactly the same way as in-person consultations – you'll have a full symptom review, discuss your medical history, and receive a personalised treatment plan. The clinical assessment is thorough and comprehensive, whether you're at home or in the clinic.

Virtual consultations are particularly useful if you live outside Birmingham, have mobility concerns, or simply prefer the convenience of consulting from home. You'll have Dr Radley's full attention for the same duration as an in-person appointment, with time to ask all your questions.

If you prefer to meet in person, Dr Radley also consults at The Harborne Hospital in Edgbaston, The Priory Hospital in Edgbaston, and Droitwich Spa Hospital in Worcestershire.
After your consultation, Dr Radley writes to your GP with a detailed treatment plan and asks them to consider taking over prescribing. Many GPs are happy to do this for standard, licensed HRT, meaning you benefit from specialist menopause expertise without the NHS waiting times, or ongoing private prescription costs. There are some exceptions to this, which you can learn more about here.

Private HRT typically costs £10-£35 a month, and private testosterone around £7-£33 a month, depending on your exact treatment plan. Where your GP takes over prescribing, your costs can significantly reduce. Instead of paying private prescription fees every month, you pay the standard NHS prescription charge, which is currently £9.90 per item in England, or free at the point of collection if you're exempt or have a prescription prepayment certificate.

Learn more about the HRT Prepayment Certificate here.

When your GP takes over prescribing, you'll still be able to see Dr Radley for follow-up appointments to monitor your progress and adjust treatment as needed, but the day-to-day prescribing happens through your NHS GP.
It's the best of both worlds: specialist care when you need it, NHS prescription costs for ongoing treatment.
Some private health insurers do cover menopause consultations, but Dr Radley works on a self-pay basis only and doesn't currently work with insurers.

This means you'll pay the consultation fee directly (£295 for an initial appointment, £220 for follow-ups), regardless of your insurance policy.

However, many patients find private menopause care more affordable than expected: you pay for the consultation privately, and often your NHS GP will continue to prescribe standard, licensed HRT on an NHS prescription.

Some exceptions apply to what your GP may be able to prescribe – learn more here.
You don't need to bring anything specific, but it's helpful to have:
-
A list of any medications you're currently taking – including prescribed drugs, over-the-counter remedies, and supplements. If it's easier, bring the packets or bottles with you.
-
Details of your medical history – particularly any relevant conditions like high blood pressure, migraines, blood clots, or breast cancer. Dr Radley will ask about these during your consultation, so having dates or details to hand can be useful.
-
A note of your symptoms – when they started, how they're affecting you, and anything you've already tried. Some people find it helpful to track their symptoms for a week or two before the appointment.
-
Any questions you want to ask – write them down beforehand so you don't forget anything during the consultation.

Dr Radley will guide you through everything during the appointment, so don't worry if you don't have all the details. The most important thing is that you're there and ready to talk about what's been happening.
-
Most patients are seen within 1-2 weeks of their initial enquiry, though appointments are often available sooner – sometimes within a few days, depending on Dr Radley's clinic schedule.

Dr Radley consults at three locations; The Harborne Hospital and The Priory Hospital in Edgbaston, and Droitwich Spa Hospital in Worcestershire, as well as offering virtual consultations across the UK. This flexibility often means we can find an appointment that works for you quickly.

If you're experiencing severe symptoms or need urgent advice, please mention this when you contact us and we'll do our best to arrange an earlier appointment.
Yes. Dr Radley has extensive experience supporting women through menopause after breast cancer, including those currently on treatment or in remission.

Menopause symptoms can be particularly severe after breast cancer, whether triggered by chemotherapy, surgical menopause, or hormone-blocking treatments like tamoxifen or aromatase inhibitors. Dr Radley will review your individual history, your cancer type, and your current treatment to identify the safest and most effective options for managing your symptoms.

This might include non-hormonal treatments and lifestyle strategies, alone or in combination, tailored to your situation. Many women are told that HRT is off the table, but it can be considered in carefully selected cases. The goal is always to improve your quality of life while keeping you safe.

You don't have to choose between managing your cancer and managing your symptoms. Dr Radley will work with your oncology team to create a plan that works for you.

Your initial consultation (£295) is a comprehensive 45 minute appointment where Dr Radley takes a full medical history, reviews all your symptoms, and creates a personalised treatment plan. It's where everything is assessed from scratch and you'll leave with a clear way forward.

Follow-up reviews (£220) are shorter appointments – typically 30 minutes – where Dr Radley monitors how you're responding to treatment, adjusts your medication if needed, and addresses any concerns or new symptoms. These appointments make sure your treatment continues to work well as your body and symptoms change.

Most patients book a follow-up appointment around 3 months after starting treatment, then every 6-12 months once things are stable, though this varies depending on your individual response and circumstances.
Yes. Dr Radley writes you a detailed letter after every consultation, outlining your symptoms, your treatment plan, and any recommendations for ongoing care. With your consent, a copy is also sent to your GP.

This is particularly important if you want your GP to take over prescribing your HRT following Dr Radley's recommendations. The letter ensures your GP has all the information they need to continue your treatment safely and effectively.

Even if you choose for Dr Radley to continue managing your prescriptions, the letter keeps your GP informed so your medical records are complete and your wider healthcare team can provide joined-up care.
